UFC Penalties Anderson Silva $50,000 for Press Occasion No-Show in L. A.

Apparently, Nick Diaz isn't the sole UFC celebrity who feels like he is able to skip from media events. USA TodayA( viaAMMA Junkie) studies that Anderson Silva is being fined $50,000 for lacking a scheduled appearance in La, where in fact the pound-for-pound MMA titan was expected for a of UFC 162 interviews. As UFC president Dana White told the press, Silva "just decided" to skip out. That leaves many news and sports outlets in the L. A. area without usage of the UFC's middleweight champion, whose look was set to coincide with future admission on-sale times later in the week: "We had a complete media time put up for him in La, and he just decided he didn't want to do it, therefore he is being fined $50,000," UFC President Dana White told USA TODAY Sports and MMAjunkie.com. "He doesn't like speaking with the media, but it is element of his contractual obligation," White said. "Everybody wants more money, more money, more money, but no one wants to offer the fight or go out and talk to the media. Talking to the press is element of your job, whether you want it or not." Such behavior appears strange for Silva, who is broadly speaking considered to be a great clerk for most UFC media features and fighter activities. To boot, the $50,000 great is just a significant amount of Silva's disclosed purse money. Just last July, he produced $200,000 for his UFC 148 title defense against Chael Sonnen, which displayed a great win-or-lose salary. However, Silva is widely believed to produce much more money than what's on the books, as a result of discretionary money, PPV proportions and rewarding sponsorship money from backers like Nike and Burger King. Media looks aside, Silva is not expected to skip the true UFC 162 function. That struggle occurs in Las Vegas onAJuly 6 at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena, where Silva can secure his UFC name against undefeated top contender Chris Weidman.
