GolfBlogger Enters Tenth Year

With all the things going on today, it appears that I've overlooked the birthdaya'blogiversary, if you willa'of GolfBlogger.Com. The initial GolfBlogger article appeared on March 22, 2004. It has been a really active year, both personally and professionally. The highlight is that I printed three books: two on golf, and one a history of Halloween horrors. I also had the opportunity a year ago to attend the USGAas Senior Open as a part of the media, and the LPGAas Jamie Farr occasion in Toledo. Both were amazing experiences that I treasure. Yet another highlight: I finally managed to satisfy my friend-in-golf-blogging, Tony Korologos, of Hooked on Golf Blog. Tony was on a to Michigan and he was met by me at the Black Lake course in Onaway. He was, beat me well within our fit and when I expected, a genuine gentleman. Eventually, I managed to get to Myrtle Beach for the very first time to perform a few programs, notably Greg Normanas course at Barefoot Landing. In the past year, Iave posted 1,127 articles, getting the grand total to 8,875 and around 8 million words.A In this, I continue to avoid the fate of hundreds of other individuals who have started a tennis bloga'that of writing several pieces and then dropping interest; the web is littered with the corpses of forgotten blogs. And yet, through all of it, GolfBlogger remains a part-time energy. High school is taught by me as my day job, and although the conclusion of my teaching job is in view, I can't yet turn GolfBlogger into a full time job (although that certainly may be the purpose). During the life of the blog, Iave also revealed some 5,000 facebook threads and this year was acknowledged by the cultural full firm Kred to be in the very best 5% of web influencers. All the achievement of GolfBlogger is, I think, due to absolute resistance on my part. I write each and every day, nearly without fail (there is the occasional weekend lapse). GolfBlogger is, to my knowledge, the next oldest tennis website (the other is less than 8 weeks older), and perhaps the oldest continuously writing. There really were no models to follow along with, when I began. I didn't wish to turn it into news that was simply reprinted by a site on the PGA Tour because there are quite a few of those now), (and Iam glad I didnat. Rather, my versions were Instapundit, Gizmodo and BoingBoing. Like Instapundit, I decided to present brief, pithy reviews and links to (golf) news; as with Gizmodo, I planned to link to new (golf) services and products and review them; and following BoingBoingas lead, I'd simply reveal and link to (golf related) things that interest me or that I found cool. Eventually, as with any blog, I'd present observations on lifea'in this case, my golfing life. The blog was kept by iave going because I love to create. Before careers were changed by me becoming a teacher, I was an expert manager and ghostwriter. I also love tennis, and so the fit was an all natural. Actually, I discover that writing for GolfBlogger has become a compulsion. Iad like to take this chance to thank the many, many hundreds who make a practice of visiting the site, and the vendors who make it financially feasible for me to keep it all going.
